Saturday Photo Hunt: Hobby
So many hobbies, so little time! But these three -- sewing, embroidery, and crochet -- have kept me (relatively) sane over the years. It was actually hard finding things to take a picture of, because I give away 98% of what I make. And, in fact, the picture was a gift to the Professor and the christening dress is for the grandchildren, but those afghans are mine, mine, mine!

You are very talented! :) Those look beautiful. :) My mom does some crochet, but has never had the patience to complete an afghan. She's done cat blankets, baby blankets, cat sweaters, and vests for people, but no afghans.

Thanks for visiting!

Such a talent you have been hiding!!! that christening dress is beautiful. Do you have a closeer picrure you can post. Do you still find time to do any of your handiwork? I used to do all of that but somehow it has gone by the wayside. my Mom made the most beautiful handcrafted items. I love having them, especially now that she is gone. Whaen the CP was born , my sister in law gave my daugher a baby blamket my mom had knitted for her son. It meant a lot to my daughter as my Mom wasn't here to make her one.

Star, you should be able to click on the picture to enlarge it. Okay, true confessions: the lace panel down the front is a succession of store-bought doilies . Then there are four different styles of lace. The first grandchild to use it was one of the Professor's; his ex-wife had recently died and we had her ashes at the house. (Long story.) I deviated from the pattern quite a bit, and felt like I was getting inspiration from the other (real)grandmother. I ended up standing in front of her ashes, holding up the dress and saying "Look what we did!" (I did say doing this stuff only keeps me relatively sane.)

Beautiful! :) Those are lovely pieces. :) I crochet - my grandmother taught me when I was young - but I've never crocheted an afghan. You are very talented. :)

I don't know what that dress is about/ means, but it is very beautiful.. Nice job. I for one know how talented you are with cross stitching :) I got to reep the rewards of that very beautiful handiwork. I also can say that your afghans are well made and very warm and cozy :)Great hobbies!!!

I used to crochet. Until I did an afghan for my grandmother, LOL. I was OVER it after that. ;-)

My grandmother crocheted many afghans and they were all lovely. These will be treasures for your family. I can't crochet at all though I tried to learn.

Since this is the original post that drew me to your site, I thought I should comment here as well.
These handcrafts are incredibly beautiful. I love to crochet as well. I am not really good at it, but I do love to do it.
I give it all away as well!
