Saturday Photo Hunt: Steps
These steps are in Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. You have never seen so many waterfalls in your life! The water doesn't converge and carve out a canyon; it spreads out and forms literally hundreds of waterfalls. The steps are handcrafted from fallen logs, and the workmanship of fitting them together is amazing. You could not have steps like these in the U.S. There were hardly any handrails throughout the park, and there were no signs warning of danger, at all. They actually assumed that grownups would pay attention to their surroundings, and would have control of their children. That's a step I'd like to see us take in this country, but I'm not holding my breath!

Wow! That's a great shot and really looks like quite a trek up all those steps!

Uh oh....since I have a fear of heights and open spaces, I'm afraid I couldn't do those steps! But how gorgeous. AND I SO agree with you on ill-behaved children in this country...great take on the theme.

Absolutely beautiful!! [and the 'girl' on the steps too is beautiful, I might add---is that you Mitey Mite?] The photo is outstanding.

And your added section about 'warning signs and parents/control of kids' ---me either. That is here in USofA---I'm not holding my breath either, it's a lost cause.

Happy Hunting.

How beautiful! I don't think I could have gone across, though -- I have a balance problem and would have felt like I was falling even in the middle, away from the edges. They're just gorgeous, though.

I would love to see a wider angle picture of all the waterfalls you were describing! No handrails, though? Not for me then, I'm not all that coordinated!

Hmm. There must not be enough lawyers in Croatia. Perhaps we could export a few hundred thousand of ours to them. Life would be so much different if everyone took responsibility for their own lives and actions instead of trying to blame others.

Those do look very inviting... hopefully the steps don't get too slick with the water. I would do the responsible thing and stick with the areas with railings. That dizzy thing can hit when you least expect it.

What a beautiful place!! I need handrails though, I would otherwise be afraid of losing my balance...
Happy weekend!

A beautiful photo. Yep I'm all for personal responsibility. But like you I won't hold my breath - even here in Australia! Happy weekend.
